The bricks have two lines of prose inscribed on them -- "O Joy, that in our embers/ is something that doth live." The artist's mark appears on the lower left corner.

Portrait of a Middle Aged Woman. c. 1880. Wood/Paper, 42" height and 37¼width. Framed Pastel on Paper portrait. Bust of unidentified woman, three-quarters left side perspective. She is wearing her hai tied back tightly, a gold brooche clasped over her white under-collar, with a black pleated blouse. A clerical, teaching or mourning uniform? Pastel portrait is in excellent condition; gilded, multi-layered wood frame is cracking along several places.

St. Francis before Innocent III. c. 1950. Wood/Paper, 30½" height and 30" width. Framed Print on Paper of original painitng done by Giotto in the early fourteenth century [held in Vatican library]. Showing St. Francis with a halo, dressed in brown tunic, before an enthroned Pope, accompanied by plain-dressed monks. Architecture divides the setting into thirds. Grotesque perspective common of very early Renaissance.
