U.S. Coast Guard Hat.
Cotton. Made by "Eagle Crest." With Coast Guard insignia. Reads: US Coast Guard Chautauqua WPG-41." The hat was worn by crew of the USCGC Chautauqua WPG-41 (United States Coast Guard Chautauqua Owasco Class Patrol Gunboat.) The weather ship was built in 1944 and named after Chautauqua Lake. It operated mainly between Midway Island and Japan. It was sold for scrap in 1974.
