Property Record of 11 Foster Avenue - Lot 482 - 1989 Note: The history of this property is difficult to learn because no leases have been found for this Lot 482 in the Institution Vault/ We do know, however, that this area of the Grounds was surveyed and Lots offered for lease by the Chautauqua Lake Sunday School Assembly about 1878/ A New cottage article in the August 1, 1887 Assembly Herald on page 1, column 2 lists one built by H.T. Foster of Marilla, NY since the end of the 1886 Season/ The Assessor's Tax Records list the same name or Mrs. H.T. Foster or her Estate every year through 1906/ The 1886/87 cottage MAY HAVE BEEN the replacement for one built in 1882 19?? Chautauqua Institution lease: Nora J. Gliss (Mrs. C.E. Gliss)/ (After the Institution's reorganization in the mid 1930s, it no longer issued leases to cottage holders) 1973 Estate: Nora J. Williams died testate sometime in December 1973/ Ward G. Mayer, Executor, Arcade, NY/ Copy of Will recorded February 21, 1975 in Chautauqua County Deed Liber 1548 at page 1/ "...I direct my Executor to sell the real property located at 11 Foster and 12 Peck Ave...for the benefit of the Subscription Fund for the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra." 1974 Chautauqua Institution deed: Ward G.
