Property Record of 2 Irving Place 1991 Note: Irving Place was in the Northwest corner of the 50 acre parcel purchased in 1874 at Fair Point for the first Assembly Grounds. - Lot 178 on Davis Avenue - as re-surveyed by J.F. Hunt in 1887 1888 Chautauqua Assembly lease: Note - the lease for this Lot was not found in the files but assume that one was issued because all of the five other Lots on Davis had leases in this style: Name of leaseholder, 99 years from 1 September 1873. Consideration: Assignment and surrender of former interest in Lot 178 and in the premises known as the CORRY TRACT or Corry Settlement - and the Chautauqua Assembly hereby covenants that it will not suffer any buildings to be erected on said TRACTor premises outside the lot lines of Lots 177 to182 inclusive. Judging by the few Tax Assessors' records available now, it appears that there has been a cottage on this lakefront lot since 1877. The first listing had no name but a valuation of $500. The first name shown was Mrs. J.P .Murry of Corry, PA in the early 1880s and 1889 was the first year of six for T.C. Joy of Tidioute, PA. Mr. S. H.
