Description |
The Athletic Club. c. 1920. B&W print photo, 3 1/2 x 5 1/2", mounted on mat board, showing the Athletic Club and two teams of oarsmen with their shells (thin-hulled racing boats). One team has just left the lake and the other is just beginning. The Boys Club, erected in 1899, is visible to the right. The Athletic Club was torn down in 1968 and replaced by Beeson Youth Center. Notation on back: Athletic Club-shell races were held each summer between Lakewood & Chautauqua. Replaced in 1968 by Recreation Bldg, a memorial by the Beeson family. |
