New Speaker Stand. 1876. B&W Photo print, 4.5"x4.5", showing a speaker stand, three men, chairs, a cross, and benches with backs which face the stand. Original mounted on black matte paper. Duplicate measures 8"x8"; photo with out backing. [1874 date incorrect] Notation on front of original: Auditorium Miller Park, Chautauqua Notation on back: Built about 1876- replacing the original speakers/ stand of the camp meeting grounds prior to 1874, and bought/ by the Sunday School Assembly. [administrative stamps] Notation on back of duplicate: 1874- First meeting place of/ Chautauqua- Known as/ The Auditorium- until the/ Amphitheater was built in 1879 [administrative stamps] |
