Edison and Ford Signatures. 1929/07/24. B&W print photo, 3"x5", showing the signatures of Edison and Ford on a document that reads: Chautauqua, New York./ July 24, 1929/ We Unite in Sending our Best Wishes to the Student Body of the North Tonawanda High School./ [Thomas A. Edison/ Henry Ford] Notation on back: 1979/ One of the interesting sidelights of the 1929 celebration of the invention of the light bulb and the Lewis Miller Centennial was the fact that Hugh McLean III of North Tonawanda, N.Y. managed to acquire the autographs of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford on one piece of paper. Mr. McLean was a member of the "Crash Class of '29" and this document is kept in the school building among treasured memorabilia. Mr. McLean brought the real piece of paper that is framed for safe keeping to Chautauqua for display at Saturday evening's dinner. |
