Acme Service Bell. c. 1890. Wood, Bronze. A service bell fixed on a wooden platform. Possibly used during the Hotel Athenaeum's early years, when the front desk did not have electric amenities. It is in proper working order; a twist of the knob on the rear of the platform activates the bell at the front. On permanent loan from the family of Andrew & Gayle Camden. |
