Description |
The Arts and Crafts Shops. Wooden framed description of the Arts and Craft Shops and picture of the Arts Quadrangle. Description: This building is known as the Arts and Crafts Shops. The main section at the rear was erected in 1909, the third summer schools building on College Hill. In 1910 tow stack hall, the large center room, was doubled in size, and one section of the north wing was added. This year the north wing was completed up to Wythe Avenue and the entire south wing was put up. It is planned to carry on this building scheme rapidly as possible until completed as in the accompanying perspective. [photograph] The present unsightly college building will then be removed and the new group will be known as South, Middle, and North College. This building project will be carried out as rapidly as the means are supplied by friends of Chautauqua Institution who are interested in the welfare and the development of the summer schools. For classes see central bulletin board. For more exact information see the signs above the class rooms and the descriptions of courses in the summer schools catalog. |
